CAPTAIN 2018

Mr. Will Stewart

Will’s love of golf began 25 years ago when as a junior golfer he first joined Halifax Golf Club.

Our Captain has represented both Rabbit and Tiger Club league teams and currently plays off a modest handicap of 13. Two ‘aces’ here at Halifax are the highlight of a largely unremarkable golf ‘career’ so far.

In 2016 Will completed 72 holes in a day and is planning on going even further in 2018 attempting to complete 6 full rounds (108 holes!) to raise money for local charities.

When not on the Course Will enjoys time with his Wife Kirsty and 5 year old Son Charles (who’s already a better putter than him!).

Will’s always keen to talk to members and visitors alike about their day at Halifax Golf Club - just don’t ask to borrow a putter!

LADIES CAPTAIN 2018

Mrs. Julie Le Pelley

Julie came to golf later in life after retiring and wanting a new challenge. What Julie lacks in skill she makes up for in enthusiasm. Her vivacity has allowed her to make many very good friends within the Ladies section of Halifax Golf Club.

When not on the golf course Julie enjoys practicing yoga, gardening and travel. Alongside her husband, Mr Past Captain and Chairman, they love spending time with their son Chris, and daughters Jeanette and Lynsey and of course their wonderful grandchildren.

One of Julie’s main focus points for her year is to encourage ladies to ‘give golf a go’ and hopefully fall in love with the game too!

RABBIT'S CAPTAIN 2018

Mr. Richard Armstrong

Richard joined the club in 2011 after playing Rugby League for Ovenden as a junior, and Halifax Irish Open Age. He got to know the course well as a junior when he often caddied for his Dad, a former member.

Occasionally he was allowed a swing of the clubs which sparked his interest in the game. In June 2016, Richard played 18 holes In Wales, England and Scotland in a day, raising funds for the charity, ‘Heartbeat of Sport’.

Richard is married to Jen and is the proud father of Fearne, Harry, and twins, Lydia and Annabelle. Given that Harry is not yet 2, and the twins were born on June 1st this year, Richard’s appearances on the course or in the bar are by kind permission of Jen.
